Why I Have a Hard Time with ACOTAR

So lately we have the fan-dom of ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) going hay-wire and doing some pretty stupid things. They went from just admiring the work of Sarah J. Maas to hard-core bullies in just a matter of a few short years.

Tonight I just finished A Court of Frost and Starlight, only to realize something sad and depressing.

The magic has died.

And I can't believe I am saying this, but it truly has died. Here's why.

Starting from bullying people who purchased a book early, because a STORE broke a contract and put a book on the shelves a week before release day. To bullying people who just started reading the series for picking the "wrong side." To now giving death threats to an actress who has no part of the up-coming Hulu release of ACOTAR and threatening the author and her children.

The fan-dom has completely ruined the magic Sarah has put into this series. I haven't seen her try to gain the situation under control though. Which makes me question, why?

Personally, if it were me, I would have nixed the filming of ACOTAR since the casting hasn't even started yet. As a way to tell these "fans" that they need to behave and stop bullying or you won't get to enjoy the thing that was supposed to be a surprise.

Today society has gone upside-down. While we all have worked hard over the years to end cyber-bullying, this younger generation threw a rock into the water and said "F this. We want it OUR way." I don't think these fans/kids realize the damages they are causing. If they do realize it, then shame on them.

So needless to say, the magic for me has died. As I finish writing this entry, I am about to start A Court of Silver Flames. Let me say my two cents about this.

1. I am not a fan of Nesta, but I can relate to her anger and pain. Which is why I'm not a fan. I see myself in a mirror and it hurts.

2. You all need to cool down with this series. Stop over-hyping it. Stop obsessing over it. The fans have made the stigma around these books toxic.

3. STOP recommending these books to kids. It's FINALLY out of the YA genre, kids don't need to be reading it.

Just to help you out with what a kid is..... here are two definitions.

Child - Biologically, a child is a human being between the stages of birth and puberty, or between the developmental period of infancy and puberty. The legal definition of child generally refers to a minor, otherwise known as a person younger than the age of majority

Minor - In law, a minor is a person under a certain age, usually the age of majority, which legally demarcates childhood from adulthood. The age of majority depends upon jurisdiction and application, but it is generally 18.
