I started a Podcast!!!!

I started a new project.... not that I need another one while writing my first book. 😲

But if you are into TrueCrime, then I have a Podcast just for you!

You can listen to the Podcast on Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible and more. For early access of the podcast, you can check out Patreon for only $1.

Really!

Only $1. You get the podcast early, case photos, announcements, suggestions on cases you want to hear, ask questions and a bonus episode of the questions asked. At the end of every episode, 5 random members will get a shout-out on the podcast!

Keep in mind, this is a baby podcast, so while it's not a big name podcast like CrimeJunkies, this is just a new podcast getting started from the ground up.

Don't worry. I'm still writing, as that is my main project and passion. The podcast is just a fun hobby.

A Sneak Peek of the New Book!!!

The native lore is that the northern lights are the spirits of the animals that were hunted over the generations. One lore is that the lights are an evil spirit coming to claim more souls. It's said you should never whistle when the lights are out. That it would attract the spirit to you and it will claim your soul. But if you clap, it will make the lights dance and stay away from you.

I smile at that little tidbit of information I learned. When I heard another howl from the wolf, the lights danced. I knew it was time to go in and lock up. Making sure the garage was closed before going inside, I walk up the short flight of stairs in time to hear another howl.

Setting the wood down in the box by the door, I carefully latch the door and prop up the board to barricade the door from opening, in case the locks failed. I don't think a wolf would break into the house, the barricade was more for the bears. But it made me feel safe to have it up.

Dragging the box over to the wood burning stove, I put another log inside. After stroking the fire, encouraging the flames to come to life, I closed the hatch and worked my way to the couch. Sitting on the heating blanket, I sighed in relief of the heat. Just as I was starting to take my boots off, Freya sat up and growled. Slowly, I look out the window behind me. Expecting to see that wolf I heard. Instead I saw huge moose.

I pet Freya on the head as I reach out to close the curtain. “It's just a moose, Freya. You're alright.”

Cold Cold Heart by Tami Hoag

Title: Cold Cold Heart Author: Tami Hoag Series Title: No series Published: January 13th 2015 Pages: 389 Format: hardcover Source: Local Library

Summary: #1 New York Times bestselling author Tami Hoag delivers a shocking new thriller

Dana Nolan was a promising young TV reporter until a notorious serial killer tried to add her to his list of victims.  Nearly a year has passed since surviving her ordeal, but the physical, emotional, and psychological scars run deep.  Struggling with the torment of post-traumatic stress syndrome, plagued by flashbacks and nightmares as dark as the heart of a killer, Dana returns to her hometown in an attempt to begin to put her life back together.  But home doesn’t provide the comfort she expects.

Dana’s harrowing story and her return to small town life have rekindled police and media interest in the unsolved case of her childhood best friend, Casey Grant, who disappeared without a trace the summer after their graduation from high school.  Terrified of truths long-buried, Dana reluctantly begins to look back at her past.  Viewed through the dark filter of PTSD, old friends and loved ones become suspects and enemies.  Questioning everything she knows, refusing to be defined by the traumas of her past and struggling against excruciating odds, Dana seeks out a truth that may prove too terrible to be believed…

My Review:

I started reading this book because it was in the POV of someone who has PTSD. I had no clue there were two POVs with PTSD.
This book made me question everything. I was able to relate with the characters. Which is shocking. I, myself, have PTSD but not as severe as our characters. So I felt like I was resonating with what I was reading.
Dana's thought process is very similar to mine. And who our murderer is and how she figures it out what not how I was expecting. I really enjoyed this book. I hope I could find more like it

After the Great Transformation, life in the North was miserable and bleak for those who remained. Loved ones were mourned. Survivors heard voices and could do impossibly unnatural things. I Am Writing a BOOK????

You read that correctly. Your girl is writing a book. I had announced on Instagram and TikTok that I was writing my first novel.
While it is a slow process for me, I am really excited to get this adventure out of my head and share it.
I read a quote that said "Write what you want to read." So that is what I am doing. This storyline was supposed to go a different route. More contemporary. But as I wrote it, something happened.

Why I Have a Hard Time with ACOTAR

So lately we have the fan-dom of ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) going hay-wire and doing some pretty stupid things. They went from just admiring the work of Sarah J. Maas to hard-core bullies in just a matter of a few short years.

Tonight I just finished A Court of Frost and Starlight, only to realize something sad and depressing.

The magic has died.

And I can't believe I am saying this, but it truly has died. Here's why.

The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air #2) by Holly Black

Title: The Wicked King Author: Holly Black Published: Jan. 8th, 2019 Pages: 366  Format: harcover Source: Purchased

Summary: The enchanting and bloodthirsty sequel to the New York Times bestselling novel The Cruel Prince.

You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.

The first lesson is to make yourself strong.

After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.

When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world.

 My Review:

Okay. I'll admit I wasn't a fan of The Cruel Prince. But I purchased the rest of the series knowing it will get better. With the headache that came with the plot twist and plans. Murder and betrayals. I wasn't expecting to find saga that is The Wicked King to be just that.
Wicked.
Cardan..... Ugh. I was starting to like him against my better judgement. But now. Now I don't know what to think.
Jude, I feel like never grows up. She's stuck in playing a game and won't get herself out of it. All her decisions are horrible and I hate it. I don't particularly care for Jude either. She's our main character and I am not a fan.
I gave this book 3 starts for the saga. The mayhem. The betrayals and the schemes. The world of Faerie is still magical and keeps you on your toes.
However, our heroine's journey annoys me. Her lack of growth is...... Lacking. I'm hoping that in Queen of Nothing she becomes better. Someone I can root for. Someone who comes back out and says "surprise I'm here for more." But right now her character is that much of a child. She thinks she's so high and mighty that she doesn't see that she messes up all the time.
As for Cardan.
I so badly want to like this character. But right now, I hate him.
The fandom that exists for this series gave me so much promise. But I'm not seeing what they see

Review: A Kept Heart by Melissa Simone

Title: A Kept Heart Author: Melissa Simone Published: February 14th, 2021 Pages: 188 Format: PDF Source: Received from author as an ARC reader

Summary:

Axel
I’ve loved her since the day I saved her from the playground bullies. When her eyes met mine something tugged at my heart. I didn’t know what it was at first. As the summer went on and the more time I spent with her at the park, I knew then that she was mine. When her family moved unexpectedly. I vowed to myself that I would never forget her.

Twelve years later, my little thimble is a country music superstar. She left something of hers from that summer, so when I heard her singing on TV, I knew that song was about us. During my one chance to meet the only love of my life, she didn’t remember me.

I wasn’t going to get another chance to meet her. The thought of her forgetting me freaked me out. So an opportunity led me to move close by, and learning where she lived, where she hung out… I kinda followed
her, but she doesn’t know it yet.

Milah
I never forgot who he was, but I just can’t remember enough about him. You’d think that after spending two summer months together, I could pick him out in a crowd, and find him just as easy with my highly paid Investigator. But some people ain’t easy to find. So I meet this guy at my concert, and we became good friends. I end up wrecking my car and suffer from short term memory loss. The guy I’ve been keeping in touch with saves me. He’s also the guy I plan to spend time with at my Lake House for the summer. Even though I don’t remember much, I’m starting to think that my childhood crush and I were never meant to be
