Audible: My First Experience

To in today's post I am talking about Audible.

Now I have heard of Audible before, an online audiobook source. However, I almost didn't want to do it.
First I looked at the prices. The first month was Free and following months was 14.99 p/m. Okay, that sounds good. Then I looked at the prices of the audiobooks alone. Example:

If I went to Barnes & Noble and bought a hardcover at 27.99 (not counting taxes) then waited year to buy the paperback, it would've been at least 15.99 (average.) That's almost half the price alone. Then say I went online to order the audiobook.... WHAM!!!! a whooping 37.99.

See the difference?

That ALONE made me not to try it. Then a wonderful author told me I won a free audiobook via Audible. I was stuck. She gave me an excellent idea to download the free book on my free (one month) membership. So I did. However, there was one thing I didn't know about Audible.
Once a month you receive a credit. That credit equals the price of ANY book, no matter the price.
Also, if you already have an Amazon account, you can sync that account to your Audible, less of a hassle for signup.
So I downloaded my free book. Then I decided to use that credit to download another book.

Needless to say; I am hooked.

I like how once a month you get a credit (which I just got mine today.... hmmm.) I like how the membership is the price is a set 14.99.
Now, My first time listening to Audible went something like this:

Plug into headset, listen during lunch break.
Plug into Aux cord, listen in car.
Plug into headset, listen at work.

Because I was juggling an audiobook with my work schedule, it took me longer (almost a month) to listen to the audiobook. Which worked out just fine, considering I'm typically a busy woman.

So to rate my first experience with Audible, I give it a 4.5 out of 5 on experience. Website navigation, I give about a 3.5. It's a little difficult to navigate their website. The layout is just weird......

So I do recommend Audible, if you prefer audiobooks. If you only want to try for a month, I recommend sign up, get that free month and free book. You'll probably change your mind, like me.

Until Next Time

Jenny
