***I received an ARC Copy of Immersed by the author for an advanced read/review.***
Picked up not far after Configured ended. It picked up smoothly and had you anticipating every page, from the start.
We learn that Avlyn's brother is still live and just like her. We start to see a romance blooming between Avlyn and Meyer. We see people betrayed and people lost.
Rarely do I find that a second book in a series, be better than the first. Immersed was definitely that.
I personally felt like Avlyn made many mistakes. I'm pretty sure I looked crazy screaming "why are you so stupid?" There were many incidences that she should have listened to her brother and Meyer.
The cliffhanger?
OMG!!!! I wanted to pull my hair out! Immersed has what Configured doesn't. A strong and obvious cliffhanger.
As was teased in Configured, we see Avlyn and Meyer become closer together. It's obvious that they are meant together. However, no YA novel is complete without a love triangle. Queue entry of Aron. However it is also obvious that Aron is into Sanda. That whole thing in itself was a bit confusing. But in the end, the Avlyn/Meyer ship pulls through.
The betrayal I mentioned, from Affinity and New Philly; I, 100%, saw coming. But from both? that threw me off.
I do want to thank the author for the clean romance and mild language. It's quite refreshing to see less in a YA novel. these books are more suited for teens than what is available.
All in all, I was completely consumed by Immured and I don't think I can wait for book 3.
Highly recommend this book/series for all Hunger Games and Divergent fans.
